Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Berlin from 1945 is complicated and there is a lot of info in Michel &SG catalogues. Can members help me with a couple of queries not answered there? With currency reform, stamps were overprinted with net and band posthorn overprints. Why were both net and band used, rather than just one sort? Also, in August 1949, 4 stamps were overprinted "Berlin" in green. What was the purpose of this overprinted issue? The Berlin Buildings set had only been issued a few months before. Were there shortages met by the overprints. Many thanks.
