Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: After WW1, a separatist movement existed in the Rhineland, which was more or less spearheaded by Dr. Hans Dorten, and unofficially supported by the French. Dorten organised a plebiscite in early 1919, and apparently some 100,000 ballot papers were returned by post (from aachen en Coblenz), in favour of a separate Rhineland state. Cologne weas to be polled as well, but the British put an end to Dorten's activities. Again apparently, these cards were later deposited in the Hoover Insitution in the US. I've been in touch with them, but the cards are nowhere to be found. Does anybody know whether any of these may have surfaced on the (philatelic) market? And has anything else survived with regard to this separatist movement? Cinderella maybe? I know that stamps with a double R on exist, but these stem from a slightly later separatist movement, so they're not the ones I'm looking for. I'm more interested in the first wave of separatism, which ended spring 1919, and during which even Konrad Adenauer played his part, although he later himself played down his involvement. Hope you can help!
