The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).
The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.
Hello,
I am trying to decipher a German cachet on a postal stationery card of India. It is sent by a German national at the Parole Camp of Satara in February 1945. The cachet is in black in three lines. Parts of the cachet are underlined. What I can make out reads something like this:
'Dies ist [...] Post. W[a/e?]nn Sie [...]
die zuletzt bekanntgewordene A[...] [...]
Absenders a[...]'
I am also surprised to see this cachet on an Indian card. Was it used specifically for the benefit of the German sender and his family?
Any help will be very much appreciated!
Adrian
