I recently bought a cover that puzzles me: mailed locally to the Kriegsschadenamt (war damage office), franked 8Pf Hitler pmk Strassburg (Els) 12.12.44. The same postmark also features on the back flap. It doesn't look philatelic (but who knows?). Strassburg was occupied in late November -- did the local post continue using Hitler stamps, as for example in Czechoslovakia from 8-16th May 1945? Any tips greatly appreciated. Philip |
