Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: I recently bought a cover that puzzles me: mailed locally to the Kriegsschadenamt (war damage office), franked 8Pf Hitler pmk Strassburg (Els) 12.12.44. The same postmark also features on the back flap. It doesn't look philatelic (but who knows?). Strassburg was occupied in late November -- did the local post continue using Hitler stamps, as for example in Czechoslovakia from 8-16th May 1945? Any tips greatly appreciated. Philip
