Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: In the late 1870s a meeting of the UPU was held, I assume in Lisbon. At this meeting it appears that the members agreed to standardise some of the colours of their stamps. The ones I am aware of are red for inland letters and blue for foreign letters. I am not certain if green was chosen for postcards or if any other colours were decided for commercial mail etc. Can anybody help and is there a website out there that can supply all details?
